  1. Indian Wells Valley Humane Society Newsletter
    April 2018
Greetings to everyone and a very happy spring!! Much going on and a lot to share! I guess the biggest news I have is that the new cat room expansion will be completed soon! The new cat cages have arrived are just awaiting to be placed in their new home!!
Thanks to Marcia Thigpen’s generous donation, we were able to continue the IWV Humane Society Spay/Neuter Program in 2017.
We paid for the spay and neuter of 1,422 cats and dogs from January through December 2017 for a whopping total of $117,502.
    Broken down into categories:
Community Voucher Program: 567 cats ($40,883) and 418 dogs ($37,707)
    Shelter Adoptions: 233 cats ($18,044) and 204 dogs ($20,523)
The good news is that 1,422 cats and dogs were spayed and neutered, many that wouldn’t have had the surgery without financial help. The bad news is that at this rate, we will run out of funding for this program in a couple of years. If you need financial help for a spay/neuter, please don’t hesitate to ask for a voucher, but if you can afford to pay for your own pet, please leave the vouchers for those who need them. If you would like to donate to our spay/neuter program, we are happy to accept your donation!

Update on the fundraiser for the Animal Shelter on March 24th at Fury’s Sports Bar. Kaley and Pat Banks with Debbie Chapman joined in the fun at a Beer tasting event by providing some sandwiches and munchies. Great music was provided and a good crowd. We had a really nice time and were able to provide $245.00 to the Ridgecrest Animal Shelter to help cover some of the medical costs of the more injured animals that had come in in the last couple of months. Next fundraiser will be on May 5th at Grace Lutheran Church with spa kits, a couple of raffles for massages, and special goodies provided by Debbie Chapman and Karen Serkowski. More Information as we get closer to the date!!
In other news, you may have noticed that the play yard at the shelter looks all torn up. Well, Mary and her team are putting in some grass and a new smaller fenced area so that the dogs will have a better area to play in and 2 areas for people to check out the dogs in. This new area has been completed and looks really great!
That is about all I have for now, my friends. Next scheduled Board meeting is for April 11th at Kerr McGee Center at 7pm. Updates as to what is going on will be available on our website http://www.iwvhs.org and on our facebook page.

  2. Neat blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your theme. Appreciate it

  3. DON’T forget!! The first day of every month is the day to go to the Pizza Factory and order a great pizza. And when you order, tell then it is for the
Indian Wells Valley Humane Society. We will get 30% of the tab for our group. No flyer required!!!

  4. Adopt a Dolly Tea Party

Fundraiser for the Indian Wells Valley Humane Society
The Indian Wells Valley Humane Society has been blessed with a lovely group of dollies and horse statues that desperately need new homes and loving new owners. We are having a very special adoption tea party to find these special young new owners. The new owners should be at
least 3 years old and up. You MUST have reservations to attend the event as we only have a certain number of dollies and statues at this time and we would like to make sure that all of the children who come get a dolly or horse. We have big dollies, medium dollies, small dollies, animal dollies, horse statues and groups of horse statues; all are in very excellent condition as the people who owned them have kept them either in a glass case or in their original boxes.
A donation of $20 per child includes their choice of a doll or a statue, with adoption papers, and a tea party with light refreshments with mom and/ or dad attending. The Tea Party and adoption will take place at the Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union (100 E Ward) conference room on June 24th, a Sunday from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. You can call Debbie Chapman (760-384-8401), of the Indian Wells Valley Humane Society, to make your reservations and for more information. Only those WITH reservations will be able to attend the Tea Party. We do ask that you do not make a reservation for anyone else please except for the following reason:
If you know of a child who may not be able to afford to come but would be an excellent new owner, you are more than welcome to sponsor that child by calling Debbie at 760-384-8401 and letting her know.
If you wish to donate a doll to the adoption, they must be in excellent condition and check out by Debbie before the event for acceptance. ( All of the proceeds go to help fund our Spay and Neuter program. All donations are tax deductible as the Indian Wells Valley Humane Society is a 501-C3 organization.)
